Shoveler 3-Wheeler – 2020 // hand-crafted apparel illustration // PC + vector software

I love to build lasting relationships with other small business owners, and my experience in the retail and production sectors of the apparel industry usually leads me to working with apparel brands. Over time, working to help brands grow and succeed has become the core of my business. This client requested a specific species of waterfowl on an old Honda 3-wheeler, getting a bit rowdy. The subject matter was right in line with my style and personal experiences, and I think the final art reflects that in good fashion. This was a forerunner for more than 50 other designs, created with the same style and approach to the subject matter.

Summer’s End – 2019 // hand-crafted virtual reality artwork // PCVR + HTC Vive HMD

After getting my feet wet creating art in a virtual reality space, I decided to create something detailed with a very painterly style, imagined within a dimensional frame. The style really spoke to me and I had a lot of fun with it.

Grannie’s Hands – 2019 // 24″ x 36″ acrylic on stretched canvas

In school I found my love for painting, the freedom of a blank canvas called to me. But as I became a family man, I focused on what paid the bills, and that was my apparel illustration. I never really went back to it until after my life had settled down a bit. This was the first serious piece in decades for me, and I chose subject matter that called to memories of growing up in the south. A companion piece to this one called ‘Grandpa’s Hands’ is in the works.

The Mad Patriot – 2021 // hand-crafted illustration // PC + raster & vector software

This is detail from a larger illustration created for a musician out of Missouri. The intention was to be promo for his new song release, based along the lines of Orwell. I purposely included a lot of hidden meanings and messages, and had a good amount of fun creating this project.

Perfect Cover – 2019 // hand-crafted virtual reality artwork // PCVR + HTC Vive HMD

With my love of the outdoors and wildlife, it was sure to start coming out in my VR creations. This was my imagining a group of Black Crappie hanging out under a sunken branch. This was a very extensive piece, with my creating the edge of the pond to the scene location and beyond, to give a real sense of distance. The style I used to create the fish was also a fun experiment in color and stroke.

Crazy Blue-Eyed Fiddler – 2023 // 20″ x 24″ acrylic on stretched canvas

Exploring a combination of my styles with this piece, created in honor of the musicians of Mountain View, Arkansas. Many weekend evenings here in the Ozarks, you can find guitars, fiddles and mandolins playing just off the town square. This character is in many ways a depiction of myself, and I really enjoyed painting such a vibrant scene.
